From a battle over souls to a battle over game consoles, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have found a new film project. The writing/directing team, whose last film This Is The End was released in 2013, will be tackling a movie for Sony about the monumental Sega-Nintendo rivalry of the 1990s. The film will be called Console Wars. (No surprise there.)

Rogen and Goldberg — who are the creative forces behind comedies such as Superbad and Pineapple Express, as well as This Is The End — will be writing the film’s script, adapting Blake J. Harris’s upcoming non-fiction book Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo and the Battle that Defined a Generation. The pair will also direct, while Harris, who conducted hundreds of interviews for the book to get an in-depth look at the rivalry that upended the video game industry, will serve as a producer on the film.

Though details are still scant, based on Rogen and Goldberg’s track record, it’s probably safe to guess that Rogen will have an onscreen part and that there will be bountiful stoner humor.
