Can an elf love an ant? We’ll soon find out, as Variety reports that Evangeline Lilly is in early talks to play the female lead opposite Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man. The upcoming Marvel film has already snagged stars Michael Douglas and Michel Pena, in addition to Rudd, and Edgar Wright has been tapped to direct.

If The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug star does sign on, Variety reports that insiders believe she would play the daughter of Pym (Douglas) as well as Rudd’s love interest. Of course, Pym didn’t have a daughter in the comics, but we suppose crazier things have happened in the world of comic book-to-film adaptations. Marvel wouldn’t comment about Lilly’s potential role or the talks.

Ant-Man is slated to hit movie theaters on July 17, 2015.
