Justin Bieber tested positive for Xanax and marijuana in a urine sample test taken after his arrest in Miami last week, Miami Beach police said Thursday. Bieber was arrested for driving under the influence and drag racing on Jan. 23.
Police had previously said that Bieber admitted to drinking, smoking marijuana and taking prescription pills the night he was arrested. The toxicology report now confirms this was true, according to TMZ. Bieber was briefly jailed after the incident in Miami and has pled not guilty to the charges. The pop star will face arraignment for the DUI charges on Feb. 14.
The toxicology report news comes shortly after Bieber was charged Wednesday with assaulting a limousine driver on Dec. 30 in Toronto. Bieber is set to appear in a Toronto court on March 10, CNN reports.
Bieber’s representative wrote to CNN Wednesday of the Toronto charges, “Our position is that Mr. Bieber is innocent. As the matter is now before the court, it would be inappropriate to address the specifics of either the allegation or of our defense at this time.”
The singer’s manager, Scooter Braun, tweeted Wednesday evening about Bieber’s ongoing woes.
Sheriff’s detectives in Los Angeles presented evidence this week to the district attorney in their investigation of Bieber’s alleged egging of a neighbor’s house three weeks ago. The prosecutor will likely decide early next week whether Bieber will be charged with felony vandalism.
With a third charge potentially on the way for Bieber, a group has started a petition asking President Barack Obama to deport the 19-year-old music idol. The petition surpassed 100,000 signatures Thursday, which means the White House must issue an official response.
