Tonight’s Grammy awards show will be tinged with politics, as 34 couples — including same-sex ones — gear up to have their wedding vows televised during a segment of the night’s broadcast.
The ceremony, featuring couples gay, straight, old and young, will be part of hip-hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’s performance of their Grammy-nominated song and marriage-equality anthem “Same Love,” reports the New York Times’ ArtsBeat blog. Madonna is set to join the performance, and Queen Latifah will officiate the nuptials.
The participating couples have all signed confidentiality agreements, promising to not tell even their families about their plans, and only recently learned that their weddings would take place at the Grammys.
