This is — luckily for their fans — not a joke: Zach Galifianakis and Louis C.K. are collaborating on their first project, a new comedy series for FX.
The networks announced today that they’ve ordered a pilot of a show created by and starring Galifianakis. Louis C.K. will co-write the show, which is the first one to come out of a deal between the comedian’s production company and the networks.
Not that this pilot is FX’s only news of the day. They’ve also announced the rollout of what they’re calling FXNOW, an app that will let subscribers watch FX original series (like Louie, natch) and a rotating catalog of movies — and, beginning in August, all seasons of The Simpsons except the current one — on mobile devices. Like its cousins in the watch-cable-on-your-laptop department, it’s only for FX’s TV subscribers.
One note to potentially over-excited fans: FX has ordered a pilot of the Galifianakis/C.K. show, not a series, so there’s no guarantee yet that you’ll be able to watch it on any screen.
