The redheaded, former Russian spy who transitioned into a national celebrity with her striking looks and fashionista image is now launching her own fashion line, maybe taking a cue from fellow spy James Bond’s clothing line.
Anna Chapman, who was arrested in New York in the 2010 bust of a Russian spy ring, will release a line that her official website describes as “lethal weapons for women,” AFP reports. The clothes and accessories will go on sale in February.
The former spy has attained celebrity status as an ex-spy fashion model and socialite since she returned to Russia in a prisoner swap in 2010. On Thursday, she was in Turkey presenting the new line at a trade fair.
But Chapman’s unique path doesn’t guaranteed she’ll have success in the world of fashion, AFP reports. “I wouldn’t say Anna Chapman herself has ideal taste,” one stylist told a Russian daily. “She wears clothes that are absolutely ordinary.”
