Gerard Butler for Point Break Remake: Good Reason to Rewatch the Best Part

Another surfing movie is in the line-up for the actor

Last night, Deadline brought us the news that actor Gerard Butler is reportedly attached to the forthcoming remake of 1991’s surf-crime classic Point Break, playing the role first undertaken by the late Patrick Swayze. It’s not Butler’s first foray into the world of surf movies — 2012’s Chasing Mavericks also hung ten — but the remake may take its thrill-seeking characters beyond the ocean: though the original stayed close to shore (except when Swayze and Keanu Reeves memorably battled it out in mid-air), the 2011 announcement that the project was underway said that the characters were into “extreme sports,” not necessarily surfing.

Which brings us to the most important question: will whoever ends up playing the Keanu role have an opportunity to shoot his or her gun straight into the air while screaming?

The posing of that question is as good a reason as any — not that you need a reason — to revisit the original’s classic moment.
