HBO announced Thursday that Game of Thrones would return April 6 at 9p.m., and Boardwalk Empire will end after its fifth season this fall.
Game of Thrones, an audience favorite that has been nominated for three Best Drama Emmys, will start in April so as to not conflict with The Walking Dead, Variety reports. The medieval fantasy show was also recently nominated for an Art Director’s Guild award.
HBO also announced that Boardwalk Empire, the prohibition-era gangster drama set in Atlantic City, will end this year. Creator Terrence Winters announced the end date at the Television Critics Association press tour, and expressed gratitude that the show had such a “great run,” Entertainment Weekly reports.
