Carly Rae Jepsen, whose 2012 single “Call Me Maybe” rocketed her to pop icon status, announced Monday she will play Cinderella on Broadway in 2014.

The Canadian singer will begin her 12-week run on Feb. 4, taking over for Laura Osnes, whose year-long stint in the role ends in January.

Jepsen, 28, performed in high school productions of “Annie,” “Grease,” and “The Wiz” before becoming a pop sensation. She also attended the Canadian College of Performing Arts after high school. “It was essentially musical theater training with studies in singing, dancing and acting,” she told The New York Times via email. “My favorite part of the school year was our trip to New York, where we met Broadway performers and toured the theaters.”
