Grand Central, described as a “character-driven procedural with a supernatural twist,” will debut on the Alphabet network sometime in 2014. It joins two other King-derived show — CBS’ Under the Dome and SyFy’s Haven — currently produced for the small screen.

The series is based on King’s short story “The New York Times at Special Bargain Rates” about a widow who receives a phone call from her recently deceased husband (and, subsequently, more calls that give enough details about future events to keep her alive).

The Hollywood Reporter says ABC has the show scheduled to hit the network in a straight-to-series order for summer 2014, taking what King placed in his Just After Sunset collection and giving it fresh life — is that the right word for this supernatural thriller? — week after week.
