Less than a day after the finale of The Blacklist aired, NBC picked it up for a second season, Variety reports.
It’s no surprise: The Blacklist, a crime drama starring James Spader, earned the crown of most-watched freshman drama this fall, topping both the coveted 18-49 demographic and total viewers.
“The success of The Blacklist demonstrates that inspired storytelling is alive and well in broadcast television, and I’m impressed on a daily basis by this creative team’s imagination and the extent to which they will go to capture this grand vision on film,” NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt said. Lead-in help from The Voice didn’t hurt either.
