Shonda Rhimes, the creative genius behind Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice and Scandal, is set to pen a book about work/life balance. In the memoir, Rhimes will write about her decision to build a family before coming to Hollywood and the challenges of working toward success as a single mother, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The book, which will be published by Simon & Schuster, will hit the shelves in 2015.
“I have made a lot of mistakes as a single mother, and as a working mother, and as a sleepless mother, and as a dating mother,” Rhimes said in a statement announcing the deal. “And I did all of it while running a bunch of TV shows. So I’m going to write about that and hope my kids don’t use it against me in therapy later.”
Marysue Rucci, Simon & Schuster’s vice president and editor-in-chief, said of the forthcoming memoir, “Shonda Rhimes is bar none in the storytelling realm. Now fans of her phenomenal shows can read Shonda’s story in her own words — and marvel at how Shonda built a phenomenal career.”
