National Basketball Association All-Star Dwyane Wade has just sold a semi-autobiographical TV show to Fox based on his New York Times best-selling book, A Father First: How My Life Became Bigger Than Basketball, THR reports.
Burn Notice writer Ben Watkins is set to pen the half-hour comedy loosely based on the life story of the Miami Heat guard titled Three the Hard Way. The show will focus on the life of a three-time NBA champion and gold medal-winning basketball player, Daryl Wade, and his entourage, who must parent by committee after he gets full custody of his two young sons. (The title of the show presumably derives from the size of the real Wade’s family, and his three NBA championships — guess he doesn’t have high hopes for earning a fourth ring with the Heat before the show premieres.)
In reality, Wade underwent a dramatic and well-publicized divorce and equally ugly custody battle for his sons with his ex-wife. The show itself reportedly will focus on Wade’s loving relationship with his sons, not the courtroom drama.
