Here’s your first glimpse of Lifetime’s upcoming adaptation of Flowers In The Attic.

The update of V.C. Andrews’ 1979 best-selling thriller, about a group of siblings locked in an attic by their greedy mother and evil grandmother, stars Kiernan Shipka, who plays Cathy Dollanganger, along with Heather Graham as her mother, and Ellen Burstyn as her terrifying grandmother. This is the second time the scandalous novel that had a cult following for much of the 1980s and 90s has been given the film treatment — the first was in 1987 and starred Kristy Swanson

The update is more likely to please V.C. Andrews traditionalists. While 1987’s Flowers left out the novel’s most famous and disturbing scene — that would be the incest between Cathy and her older brother Chris — the remake reportedly won’t shy away from the taboo. Mason Dye, who plays Chris, answered Entertainment Weekly‘s questions about the novel’s famous scene, saying, “Will there be incest? Yes. We stay very true to the book.”

The movie airs on Lifetime on Jan. 18.
