R2-D2 and C-3PO look skyward as an Imperial Shuttle takes off from the wastelands of Lille.
R2-D2 will return to the Star Wars franchise in J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII,” the Wrap has learned.
The robot has been featured in every Star Wars movie since 1977, and won’t change at all for the new movie, due out in December 2015.
R2-D2 is played by Kenny Baker and “voiced” by Ben Burtt, who also does Darth Vader’s heavy breathing. The veteran Astromech will join costars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill in the highly anticipated new movie.
