A judge is deciding which court will hear a lawsuit against filmmaker Spike Lee over a Twitter post gone very, very wrong.
Eight months ago, before George Zimmerman was acquitted in the death of Trayvon Martin, Lee tweeted out the wrong address for Zimmerman to his 240,000 followers — and the elderly couple at that address says they are still getting death threats.
Even though Elaine and David McClain, great-grandparents in their 70s, accepted Lee’s apology and $10,000 in late March, Elaine is going back for more after the severity of harassment increased during and after the high-profile trial. They are seeking an unspecified amount for damages and legal fees.
“I did a very stupid thing,” Lee told Oprah Winfrey last week.
