Fed up with 46 years on the road touring with the Grateful Dead and various post-dead groups, bassist Phil Lesh has signed a deal to play regular concerts without the grind of a tour.
Lesh, 73, will pair up with promoter Peter Shapiro, who runs the Brooklyn Bowl in New york City and owns the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, N.Y. Lesh will kick off his concert series in Brooklyn in November at the bowling alley-rock club before playing 30 shows this spring at the Capitol. Lesh will also play shows in Las Vegas and and at his own club in San Rafael, California.
“I’m pretty sure I want to make music till I can’t breathe anymore,” Lesh told the New York Times. “I just want to do it within the most focused possible way.”
