Rapper Chris Brown leaves the U.S. District Court in Washington October 28, 2013.

After brawling near the W Hotel in Washington D.C. early Sunday, Chris Brown has agreed to enter rehab as part of his ongoing struggle to control his notorious temper. The R&B singer appeared in court in the nation’s capital on Monday where he was charged with misdemeanor assault.

“His goal is to gain focus and insight into his past and recent behavior, enabling him to continue the pursuit of his life and his career from a healthier vantage point,” said the singer’s representative, according to a report published by E!.

While the 24-year-old celebrity is known for his clean dance moves and pop-infused R&B, Brown’s young career was severely tarnished after an infamous incident in 2009 when he viciously assaulted his girlfriend and fellow pop star Rihanna, which landed him a felony conviction.
