Showtime has picked up a second season of Masters of Sex and a fourth season of Homeland. The channel has ordered 12 episodes of each for next year, Showtime announced Tuesday.

Neither move is a surprise. Homeland, which won a best drama Emmy in its first season, is averaging 6.5 million weekly viewers four weeks into its third season (up 26% from last season).  Masters of Sex currently averages 5.4 million viewers, 33% ahead of Homeland‘s first season. Masters has also earned critical buzz for lead actors Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan.

Homeland continues to prove its strength for Showtime, and is one of television’s most exciting, provocative and widely-discussed shows. It has grown its audience significantly in each of its three seasons,” Showtime president David Nevins said in a statement. He added, “the critical and audience reaction to Masters of Sex since its great launch has been incredibly gratifying.”
