Hot on the heels of Paul McCartney’s surprise concert in Times Square in New York on Oct. 10, the former Beatle surprised Londoners on Friday, Oct. 18, with a pop-up gig in Covent Garden.
Rumors spread on music blogs like Uncut early Friday morning that another surprise gig could be in the works, as McCartney’s sound equipment was spotted in Covent Garden. But just as he did in New York, McCartney took to Twitter to officially announce the show:
The world’s most successful songwriter, who has been promoting his most recent album, New, also surprised students at Frank Sinatra School for the Arts in Queens, New York on Oct. 9 with a 13-song set, where he played a mix of old Beatles and Wings hits and new songs from his album.
