Adult industry trade group Free Speech Coalition announced on Tuesday that adult actors will start testing for sexually transmitted diseases every fortnight instead of every month, allowing filming to restart on Friday. Porn production has been halted since Sept. 7 after three actors tested positive for HIV.

“Going forward, we need to constantly look to both performers, producers and health care professionals to find ways to improve our protocols,” said Diane Duke, CEO of the Canoga Park-based Free Speech Coalition.

The organization said that the virus did not originate and was not transmitted on set, and that no additional incidents of HIV had surfaced since filming was stopped.

Last month, a federal judge upheld a mandate that requires all adult-film actors to wear condoms during on-screen vaginal or anal intercourse, after a challenge by the industry based on the First Amendment.
