The legendary Hot 97 Summer Jam is turning 20 years old this year. To celebrate, New York’s biggest annual hip-hop event is hosting some of the hottest acts in hip hop and rap, including Kendrick Lamar, French Montana and the Wu-Tang Clan, Chris Brown, Miguel, Fabolous, 2 Chainz, Action Bronson, ASAP Rocky, Joe Budden, Chase, Smoke DZA, Bodega Bamz, Troy Ave and Kid Ink.
The show, which is held at MetLife Stadium, has a long history of making headlines both good (like Jay-Z bringing on Michael Jackson in 2001, or Kanye West and Swizz Beatz facing off in a beat battle in 2007), and bad (Destiny’s Child booed in 2001, and 50 Cent in 2004). Last year’s headliner Nicki Minaj bailed on the show after Hot 97 host Peter Rosenberg knocked her pop-rap style on air. Whatever happens onstage this year, it will undoubtedly be memorable.
