Well, one day after we declared the latest trailer for this May’s The Great Gatsby as perhaps the most spoiler-filled movie preview ever, we have a new contender. The new trailer for the Carrie remake — starring Chloë Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore in the roles originated by Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie in the 1976 horror classic — gives away pretty much everything.

But, as with Gatsby, it’s also fairly difficult to care: Carrie has entered our pop-culture through a monster bestseller, two movies, and a Broadway musical. Don’t you already know what happens?

Besides, the original 1976 trailer gives away almost all of the same details. There’s the prom, the creepy religion stuff, Carrie’s discoveries about herself, the bucket of blood. A few lines of dialogue even appear almost exactly verbatim in both trailers: “If I concentrate hard enough I can move things” and “If you don’t have a date to the prom next Friday, would you like to go with me?” Practically the only thing they don’t share is the 1976 trailer’s ability to boast that the movie was John Travolta’s first big-screen role.

Carrie comes out Oct. 18, 2013.
