Glenn Beck asked the question on Twitter on Mar. 17, during the most recent episode of the History Channel’s The Bible: Does Mohamen Mehdi Ouazanni, the actor who plays Satan, look like President Obama?
The tweet in question has been favorited nearly 300 times — but that doesn’t mean the two men actual resemble each another.
Furthermore, a conspiracy to make viewers associate our President with the ultimate bad guy seems unlikely, even though the hit mini-series has been promoted via conservative media like Beck’s own show. (And as The Hollywood Reporter points out, Bible creator (and reality-show king) Mark Burnett has contributed to Democratic causes in the past.)

The actor who plays Satan does not actually work as an Obama look-alike—or at least he’s not credited as such on IMDb—as some headlines might have you believe, but there’s not much information out there about Ouazanni. He’s been seen in several TV movies (including The Ten Commandments, In the Beginning, Jeremiah and David; something about him must just scream “Bible”) and his Hollywood-est big-screen role was probably in 2002’s The Four Feathers. It’s difficult to find a photo of Oazanni not done up as the devil, but check out this trailer from 2012’s Moroccan Andalousie, Mon Amour! — we’re pretty sure that’s him at 0:50, looking decidedly un-Presidential and un-Satanic:

What do you think? Is there any resemblance?
UPDATE 2:15 PM: Unsurprisingly, History and The Bible‘s creators released a statement saying the comparison is “nonsense”:
HISTORY channel has the highest respect for President Obama. The series was produced with an international and diverse cast of respected actors. It’s unfortunate that anyone made this false connection.
