LL Cool J introduced this performance with a quote from the Constitution—and it only went downhill from there. Maroon 5 kicked off the inscrutable mashup offering up Adam Levine singing and dancing to “Daylight,” only to be joined by Alicia Keys having a Sheila E moment, playing the drums to her theme song from The Hunger Games. The problem is: both songs are repetitive and light on hooks—mashing them together did neither song any favors.
