The Music of Mali: 8 Musicians and Bands to Check Out Now

Malian singer/actress/dancer Fatoumata Diawara gathered several prominent Malian singers and musicians to speak out against the violence and destruction in the country’s north. The result is the song, “Mali-Ko [Peace],” with 40 of Mali’s top stars lending their considerable talents, including Amadou & Mariam, Oumou Sangaré, Toumani Diabaté, and master ngoni player Bassekou Kouyaté.
