If you didn’t pay attention to anything at all during all of 2012 up until the very moment you clicked on the link to this post, have no fear: Barbara Walters will, for the 20th time, fill you in. This morning the TV personality announced in a press release that her annual interview special, Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2012, will air on Dec. 12 and unveiled some of the shortlist for the most-fascinating title, the winner of which will be announced on-air.

The ten luminaries featured will include:

  • Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L. James
  • New Jersey Governor Chris Christie
  • Gymnast Gabby Douglas
  • Actor/Director Ben Affleck
  • Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
  • Boyband One Direction
  • Family Guy and Ted creator Seth MacFarlane

(Word to the wise if you plan to make a nomination in the comments: according to Rolling Stone, one of the only hard and fast rules to make the list is “no criminals.”)
