In the new trailer for Admission, in which Tina Fey plays a Princeton admissions officer who doesn’t deal well with children and Paul Rudd is a staff member at a hippie-dippie farm school who likes kids (and Tina Fey), Fey and Rudd display their typically charming comedic skills…and the preview displays the whole plot of the movie. Rudd is convinced that one of his students is the child that Fey gave up for adoption, the kid applies for Princeton and, despite his less-than-stellar academic record, she jeopardizes her chances to take over the admissions department in order to push for the kid’s acceptance.

Tina Fey may be a bit buttoned-down here—the movie seems closer to Rudd’s typical fare than it is to 30 Rock—but the rest of the cast list, which includes Lily Tomlin and Wallace Shawn, is full of great potential for comedic absurdity. The movie, which is based on a novel of the same name by Jean Hanff Korelitz, comes out March 8, 2013.
