TYPE OF VIOLENT WEATHER: Thunderstorm
ITS SIGNIFICANCE IN THE MOVIE: Aspiring rock journalist William Miller (Patrick Fugit) is nearing the end of an event-filled tour following the band Stillwater. A chartered plane carrying them to their next date flies through a storm of sufficient magnitude and violence that compels the band members to share long-held secrets in what they all think will be their final moments alive.
RANDOM (BUT SLIGHTLY RELEVANT) FACTOID: Modern planes are designed to fly safely in the most punishing of conditions—able to withstand lightning strikes and built with airframes designed to withstand stress loads up to 50% beyond what has been encountered in the severest of storms.
