You’re a good man, Charlie Brown. Who cares if you can’t kick a football? You’re going to be a movie star!
20th Century Fox Animation and its Blue Sky Studios have acquired the rights to Charles Schulz’s iconic Peanuts comic strip and are making it into an animated film that will debut in theaters on November 25, 2015. That year also marks the 65th anniversary of the comic strip, which at one time was read by 355 million people in 75 countries.

Carl Schulz’s son Craig Schulz, grandson Bryan Schulz and Cornelius Uliano have written the screenplay, which will be directed by Steve Martino, who also directed Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012) and Dr. Seuss’s Horton Hears a Who! (2008), according to a statement by Blue Sky Studios.
“We have been working on this project for years. We finally felt the time was right and the technology is where we need it to be to create this film,” Craig Schulz, President of Charles M. Schulz Creative Associates, said in the same statement.
But good grief, 2015 is so far away. Remember that fall and winter are the best seasons to watch classic Peanuts TV specials, such as It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966), A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (1973), A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965). Hopefully that will tide you over. Oh, and this clip:
