Opens April 10
Musicals based on movies have not had a good record lately (see — but you can’t — last season’s Ghost and Leap of Faith). This one, however, has a couple of things going for it. Barry Levinson’s 1982 film, about a band of Baltimore high school friends circa 1960, has a large corps of nostalgic fans (Levinson himself wrote the stage adaptation). And Sheryl Crow, the country singer-songwriter, has written the score, the latest pop composer to take a welcome stab at Broadway.
