Some schools do weird things to get students involved in extracurricular life. An orientation? The auditorium seats might be uncomfortable, but skip it and you may miss important information. Welcome meet-and-greets? Smile a lot, slap on your name tag and maybe make a friend for life. Pajama Day? Sure, why not.
In Hogwarts, there’s nothing like the Sorting Hat to get new students involved in the school’s culture, proudly donning their house colors and turning out for Quidditch games. (But be sure to know the difference between ritual and hazing: if a fellow Slytherin tries to tell you that everyone else is committing evil deeds, deduct 10 house points for peer pressure.)
