According to Gale: Marty was instructed by his parents to avoid Brown, which, naturally, only made Marty more curious about the “crackpot” scientist. “Marty snuck into Doc’s lab, and was fascinated by all the cool stuff that was there,” Gale wrote. “When Doc found him there, he was delighted to find that Marty thought he was cool and accepted him for what he was.” The rest is history.
