Now that Comic-Con 2012 has wrapped—the annual pop-culture convention began Thursday and ended yesterday—it’s time for those of us who did not attend to begin wading through the coverage to find the interesting news (and, almost more importantly, the best costume photos). But it’s also Monday and you’re probably busy, so we did the work for you. Here are the 25 most interesting tidbits to come out of San Diego this year. You’re welcome.

  • Contrary to rumors, the upcoming Peter Jackson–helmed Hobbit will be released as two movies, not three. The first part, “An Unexpected Journey” will be released Dec. 14 this year; “There and Back Again” is due Dec. 13, 2013. (via Variety)
  • Neil Gaiman is working on a comic book miniseries follow up to The Sandman, which will be released next year. (via Variety)
  • The next season of The Walking Dead will premiere Oct. 16, in its new Sunday at 9 p.m. slot—and the success of the first season means more wiggle-room for greatness, says creator Robert Kirkman.   • Wary Lost fans can rest assured that the folks behind upcoming J.J. Abrams show Revolution already know that viewers want answers, not just questions. (via Entertainment Weekly)
  • The trailer for Oz The Great and Powerful, which premiered on the festival’s first day, shows that the James-Franco-as-Oz movie follows the classic formula with color in Oz and black-and-white in Kansas. Watch here:

  • The next episode of Breaking Bad will take place in Germany. (via Deadline)
  • Comic-Con favorite Joss Whedon, who also said that he had not decided whether he would direct a second Avengers movie, announced that his beloved musical web series Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog will get a TV broadcast this year on the CW. (via Deadline)
  • A new Dexter video game will be available in the fall, to coincide with the show’s Sep. 30 premiere. (via Hollywood Reporter)
  • The new Community showrunners David Guarascio and Moses Port, who replaced Dan Harmon, promised fans to keep the show a “weird, wonderful gem” and “not…screw it up.” (via AV Club)
