The American Film Institute ranked One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest‘s Nurse Ratched No. 5 on a list of the all-time top 50 screen villains. Only serial cannibalist Hannibal Lecter, psycho Norman Bates, dark-force-wielding Darth Vader and Dorothy nemesis the Wicked Witch of the West have the dictatorial insane-asylum nurse beat. The crazy thing is that Fletcher, the actress who played the infamous character, has not had much of a career since winning the Best Actress Oscar for the 1975 classic.
