At this point, it’s actually embarrassing how effortless and easy Adele makes singing sound. In what’s only her second performance since undergoing throat surgery, she simply knocked “Rolling In The Deep” out of London’s O2’s arena and into the stratosphere. The performance defies criticism, a musical version of the end of The Matrix, when Keanu Reeves deflects all his attackers without even knowing how he’s necessarily doing it. The Londoner is at the peak of her powers two albums into what could turn out to be a remarkable career. To her credit, considering how many times she has sung “Rolling In The Deep,” Adele still infused it with a sense of menace, while retaining the majesty and soul contained within.
