I’m not sure why Kimberly Perry wore a wife beater with what looked like a floor-length tutu to the Grammys, but the Band Perry’s performance of Glen Campbell’s “Gentle on My Mind” was so smooth, she can wear anything she wants. Blake Shelton appeared in a classy suit (and left the cowboy hat at home) to deliver a pleasantly twangy rendition of Campbell’s “Southern Nights.” And then the country-music master took the stage himself, wearing a rhinestone suit and bolo tie as he sang his 1975 crossover hit “Rhinestone Cowboy.” Campbell was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s last year and is on a farewell tour before he retires. Based on his performance tonight, we are not losing just one of country music’s greatest talents but one still at the top of his game.
