Foster the People front man Mark Foster looked terrified onstage, and for good reason. His band has released only one album, and yet there they were, paying tribute to one of music’s greatest bands at the Grammy Awards, in front of everyone from Lady Gaga to Paul McCartney. “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” is a difficult song to get right; it should feel simultaneously uplifting (“we’re in love!”) and tragic (“but we can’t be together yet”). Foster the People captured that sentiment perfectly. And the 1960s-esque suits were a nice touch.
