IN WHICH OUR INTREPID HERO MUST…
Undertake a life-long journey across a vast land that ends with a hugely consequential decision.
WHAT MAKES IT GREAT:
The game’s sweeping story and sublimely intuitive game controls are the icing on the delicious open-world cake that is Albion. Creator Peter Molyneux wants players to “live” in this early-Industrial-Age realm: if you want to eat, you have to find a job — there are no free lunches here. You can also choose to take a partner; Albion, a pollster’s nightmare, even recognizes same-sex unions. (And then there’s the Dog. Presented to you early in the game, your canine companion — unique to each player — will stay by your side until the bitter end.) Molyneux has attempted something ambitious in his immersive and engaging world — he wants us to understand how moral conduct is defined by choices we make every day.
