The Morning After: Successful Landing?

It’s a print-magazine-deadline morning for me once again, so I’m not going to have time for a while to catch up with last night’s season debut of The Good Wife and I may or may not get around to posting. That’s where The Morning After comes in. Let us know what you thought of the debut: do you like the direction of the new season? Did it live up to those (a little silly) sexed-up promos over the summer?

Likewise, here’s your chance to weigh in on the pilot, so to speak, of Pan Am. I found the first episode a little busy, but it also had distinctive style and a voice, both of which are promising signs that a series knows itself and its characters. (Probably one of the trickiest intangibles to gauge in a new show, but also probably the most important.) And let’s face it, Playboy Club made this look like Cheever in comparison, both in its lack of self-seriousness and in its willingness to recognize that the glamor of a career in flight for women came with girdles of restrictions. Will you book a return?
