This 1995 comedy about lovably vapid and über-privileged high schoolers not only launched the careers of Alicia Silverstone and the late Brittany Murphy but also introduced a whole new set of phrases into the teenage vernacular. In addition to the iconic “As if!” and the still oft used “Whatever,” the film offered dozens of examples of the occasionally foreign way teens communicate:
Cher: “May I please remind you that it does not say ‘R.S.V.P.’ on the Statue of Liberty.”
Cher: “That was way harsh, Tai.”
Dion: “She is toe-up. Our stock would plummet.”
