While most song lyrics often refer to feeling love in one’s heart, the Ohio Express begs to differ. According to their hit single, “Yummy Yummy Yummy,” love is felt, believe it or not, in your tummy. The rest of this bubblegum pop hit doesn’t do much more explaining, though, aside from likening one’s love to sugar and spices and using punny pick up lines (“Kinda sounds funny/ But your love’s honey/ And honey, I love you”). Still, it seems that people in 1968 felt love somewhere in their bodies for the Ohio Express, and the single rose high up the charts. Since then, however, the song has transformed from a pop hit to a cheesy staple — it’s been used in food commercials (Kinder chocolate), food-themed scenes in television shows (The Simpsons) and films (the “Last McSupper” scene of Super Size Me).
