Showtime
Elsewhere in this week’s TIME, I review Showtime’s Nurse Jackie, with Edie Falco, which debuts Monday. I like it, a lot, and you can read why here.
A brief note on the headline. The original headline was “Our Bitter Angels,” which plays off the whole angel of mercy / fallen angel contrast I set up in the lede (and which the opening of the pilot, which you can watch online, makes pretty plain), as well as, of course, being a pun on “the better angels of our nature.” Crazy, huh?
Anyway, the layout for the piece change, requiring us to cut down the hed, and it became “Bitter Angel.” Which sounds a littler more dour than the show actually is. But it would make a pretty good band name.
