From the Golden Globes to the Screen Actors Guild awards, Oscar nominee Matthew McConaughey has been getting lots of practice in giving awards speeches — so much so that Jimmy Kimmel asked him for his secrets on Wednesday night.

When asked how he’ll top his much-discussed Golden Globes speech, McConaughey explained: “If I start with ‘Alright, alright, alright’ and ‘Thank you,’ I really can’t go wrong.”

That iconic “Alright, alright, alright” holds a special significance for McConaughey — those were the first three words the actor said on film as he was first starting out his career in 1993’s Dazed and Confused.
