Tenor and conductor Placido Domingo, general director of the Los Angeles Opera, speaks as he accepts the "Heart of the City Award" at the Central City Association of Los Angeles 19th Annual "Treasures of Los Angeles" luncheon May 9, 2013.

Woody Allen will revive his Los Angeles Opera production of Gianna Schicchi in Madrid during Teatro Real’s 2014-15 season. Tenor Plácido Domingo will play the title role in the one-act comedic opera, the Los Angeles Times reports. Domingo was not in Allen’s Los Angeles production, which ran in 2008.

Schicchi was Allen’s first opera, though the filmmaker’s Spanish production will not be his first overseas; the 2008 production ran in Italy in 2009. The Spanish revival will run on a double bill with Goyescas, an opera in one act, at Teatro Real in June 2015.

Allen, who has been in the headlines recently amid his stepdaughter’s renewed accusations of sexual abuse, will also premier the musical version of his film Bullets Over Broadway in New York this spring. He’s also working on a film starring Emma Stone.
