It’s the second year in a row a 1970s throwback edged out a sober 19th-century period picture to win the top honor at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Last year, Argo emerged over Lincoln, and on Saturday night the critically acclaimed 12 Years a Slave played second fiddle to the raucous American Hustle, which took home the SAG Awards 2014 outstanding cast prize.

Lupita Nyong’o of 12 Years a Slave was awarded best supporting actress over Jennifer Lawrence in American Hustle. The film was Nyong’o’s feature debut.

Duplicating their statuettes from the Golden Globes were Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto for their respective roles in Dallas Buyers Club, and Cate Blanchett in Blue Jasmine.

Breaking Bad, which already won big this year at the Golden Globes and Emmys, was awarded a top prize in television for outstanding cast in a drama, while Modern Family won the award for comedy.
