Despicable Me 3’s release date has been set for June 30, 2017, Universal announced Wednesday. That means fans of Gru and his minions will have to wait three whole years to see the evil genius-turned-dad’s next adventure, The Hollywood Reporter reports.
The franchise has become an animated tentpoll for Universal. The original Despicable Me movie in 2010, which featured the voice of Steve Carell, grossed about $543 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo. The sequel, which came out last summer, grossed over $935 million.
