Sorry, @WillMcAvoyACN, but you’re out of work. Go clean out your desk.

HBO’s The Newsroom will come to an end after its third season, the network’s president of programming, Michael Lombardo, announced Monday, per USA Today.

“I’m sure this farewell season will be one to remember,” said Lombardo.

The Newsroom, created by Aaron Sorkin, follows the trials and tribulations of a fictitious cable news channel — Atlantis Cable News — as the team cover events from the real world’s recent past. It stars Jeff Daniels — who pulled in an Emmy for his portrayal of grumpy anchorman Will McAvoy — as well as Emily Mortimer, Sam Waterston, John Gallagher, Jr., Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Dev Patel and Olivia Munn.

We’re already looking forward to the gang getting back together to film an Election Day reminder.

At the ripe old age of 62, I must say that I am now and have always been an avid television watcher.  As I look back on all of the shows I've seen over the years, not one has had an impact on me like "The Newsroom".  I am sorry to see it go.  I recently watched (for about the 100th time) the opening sequence.  I was hooked from that point.  It wouldn't work on Network, and I think USA wouldn't pick it up because of language... but I wish it would get picked up by another network.  Alan, if you could use a 60 year Black guy in the final episodes, call a fella up.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16K6m3Ua2nw

I think I finally understand how the US gets its amateurish, bumbling, viciously partisan government -- the voters are watching "Dancing with the Stars" and the rest of the fop and not so much intelligent drama. Three seasons is an insult to Aaron Sorkin and to us. The West Wing blessed us with seven seasons, Studio 60 was ripped away after one, and now the Newsroom gone after three.

I guess the production costs for  rich tapestry are way more than a single camera following an ugly bride buying a wedding dress or nasty rich 'Housewives of [fill in the city]". I'm still trying to figure out the talent exhibited by the Kardashians that propels them to the top of even the gossip pages.

Yeah, I'll be recording the third and last season of a compelling story with a cast of our most talented actors, written by one of America's great story tellers. Thank goodness I just got a Chromecast dongle for all of our TV's so I am not at the mercy of those at the production companies who green light garbage with all the skill it takes to read the National Enquirer. Pretty soon there will be no reason to pay my "Cable Company" $150 a month.

THE MASS MEDIA has no Watch Dog....that is what this series has shown us.  At least this show gave us an opportunity to act differently in the wake of violence, sadness or accident.  NOW WHAT?  back to the way we all were........

it's too bad...it really brought out the ugliness and hypocrisy of the MASS MEDIA.  It also showed us a better way to be CITIZENS of this nation rather than the typical hate mongering fools the media, the elite and the religious prompt us to be with a snap of their finger or a wave of their bible.

Why is it that the SMART shows are short lived?

It really sucks that shows that are dumb and totally inconsequential can go forever.
