After two seasons as a judge on the Fox reality show X Factor, Demi Lovato has decided to move on. The show’s creator Simon Cowell confirmed her departure Wednesday. The former Disney star will be focusing on her singing career, with an upcoming tour beginning in February.

“I started the show being a singer and a musician, and so I’m going to go back to that,” Lovato told The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s been really great, but I’m so excited for 2014. I’m going to dedicate it completely and entirely to music – touring and making a new album. Possibly releasing one.”

X Factor, which is produced in 45 countries around the world, hasn’t been thriving in the U.S. According to Variety, the show’s third season has only averaged about six million viewers per episode, which is about half the viewers season one drew. In addition to confirming Lovato’s exit, Cowell also told The Hollywood Reporter that the show was likely to make some changes before returning for another season, but didn’t elaborate.
