Phil Robertson in Hawaii on 'Duck Dynasty'

The star of A&E’s hit reality show Duck Dynasty was suspended from the show Wednesday after making anti-gay statements in an interview with GQ, the network said.

Phil Robertson was placed “under hiatus from filming indefinitely” A&E said in a statement Wednesday according to Deadline. “His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supports and champions of the LGBT community,” the statement said.

In an interview published Wednesday, Robertson repeatedly suggested homosexuality was sinful and at one point grouped gay people with terrorists.

“We never, ever judge someone on who’s going to heaven, hell. That’s the Almighty’s job,” he said, adding, “We just love ’em, give ’em the good news about Jesus—whether they’re homosexuals, drunks, terrorists. We let God sort ’em out later, you see what I’m saying?”

Everybody is saying freedom of speech and that is true, however he is now a celeberty and a role model to some people he can NOT say things like that. It is his own opinion but it is not something you say on live television . He shold be suspended from the show. Homosexuality could be sinfull IN THE BIBLE but CHristianity isnt the only religion. Actuaally in medival times male priests have records of creating marriage bonds together, budahism also says alot of diffrent things and christianity records also state alot of other rules not many people follow today. Sure we have freedom of speech but we also have to think on what we say because it can have consequences

I don't have anything against prostitutes, adulterers or homosexuals. However I do have something against sin. When I look at homosexuals all I can think about is how unnatural & gross their acts are.

I have nothing against homosexuals, but everybody is entitled to there own opinion. I look at homosexuality as not having anything to do with the preservation of our species. If that's is a fact, then homosexuality is a failure in nature. If that is true then homosexuality is a mental disorder. I'm not putting anyone down and I hope I don't hurt anyone. That isn't my intent. This is my opinion and I'm a nobody. I fail to understand why people get so upset when some celebrity or someone with a platform talks about difficult topic that they clearly don't understand. This is just my opinion.

What Happen to freedom of speach. This world we live in is a crazy one my grandchildren love watching Duck Dynasty because they sit at the table togather and eat dinner. They say a blessing before eating. They are a family that family"s should be doing togather. We all have are differeren't beleve's but we sure can't speak are mind. It is ok for him to say what he belive's he should not have to say he is sorry for saying what he believe's. Just because I may not be gay don't mean that I don't have a friend that is. I won't marry some one that is not white because I am white but ,if My ganson are someone in my family does don't mean I will not love them any more. I like PHIL I am glad that his life is good and that he can speak his mind . I am sure it is about time. We shoud be able to speak are's too!

Why is it when gays state their beliefs it is OK. But when someone states their beliefs that go contrary to the gay movement they are attacked. I heard one press personality state that if Phil does not agree with the gays he should move to Russia. What happen to the freedom of religion and the freedom of speech. Is it only OK when the gays speak. The truth hurts.

Tom, you miss the point, we are not allowed to throw stones. 1 Corinthians is a letter by Paul chastising new christians in Corinth for judging non christians, the list of sins was for the christians to example their heart and not to believe they were allow to judge and throw stones

tomcount047

When Jesus said "let ye who is without sin cast the first stone" and whenever He performed miracles, He followed with "now

go, and sin no more."  When Moses came down from Mt. Sinai and they were sinning, Moses threw the tablets down and told

them, whoever wants to believe, come over here.  Those are not with me, go over there.  And God  killed all the Israelites who were sinning!  God does not mean when He says "Love one another" that you should follow their activity, He means you should

pray for them.

Commenting on the lead article above.... by Noah Rayman, I suggest  reading the GQ rag article then editing this one to reflect what small amount Phil is quoted in it.

He did not repeatedly suggest that homosexuality is a sin,  he one time stated that when looking at sin or maybe the state of the county, that you could start with homosexuality and move on to look at others, fornication thievery etc... one time. not repeatedly. And he never once compared LBG's to terrorists as you try to twist the quote you use......

What is wrong with being truthful? Unless of course the truth won't further your point.......

I find it sad that some of you people call yourselfs christians yet WWJD. would he poor salt on a wound to make it worse? would he make make people feel bad about themselfs and judge them? The answer is No He would not. The bible Does indeed state that homosexuality is wrong, however it also states that no sin is greater then the other. Who among us has not sined? God despises a HIPPOCRITE!! The bible also says he who is free of sin cast the first stone. This is not jesus this is just wrong god is love not hate, not rejection LOVE. Merry christmas to you all and god bless you!

the sad thing about this entire $hit storm is,,, If Phil were any other race (other than White) or homosexual, and made a comment about any other race's or there sexual preference,, nothing would ever be made of his jesters... welcome to America, this what we have become....

its embarrassing

My husband and I love that we finally have a show to watch that encourages family.  We love the large dinner table and the prayers at the end of their day.  No drama!!!! We hate DRAMA.  If A & E doesn't understand the difference then we no longer need to watch that channel.

for every object mankind has ever invented, there is" a male and female part that has to go together" , to fix or repair it , show me where a bolt and bolt together can fix any thing ? or a nut and a nut, it doesn`t happen, in the End it will be only between whom ever and the great creator

I think it is high time we all get over ourselves. As a child we learn sticks and stones may break our bones but WORDS wont ever hurt me. All this political correctness has taken our right of free speech. C'mon people, did Phil Robertson's comments actually hurt you in any way? We have all suffered some sort of predjudices in our lives so let's start a new movement TWAGOO, standing for Time we all Get Over Ourselves. Until Phil voiced his opinion did gay people actually believe that there are people out there that don't feel that way. My gay friends realize that some people love them because of their lifestyle and some hate them. Hey just like everyone on the planet, some people love you and some hate you. Build a bridge and get over it!

Im sorry but phill is an amazing man of god and this crap is as stupid as the paula dean thing really we are all american and we have freedom of speech as christain we believe different than some but that does not make us bad people and deffinetly does not call for this sort of action this is pretty much discrimination towards christain for having the beliefs we have. I am sorry but A&E is going to lose alot of viewers because of this crap!!!!

I'm just stating my opinion, but it seems to me that the more the years progress, the more rights gays have. Soon they'll have more rights then anyone else. I'm sure if a gay or lesbian had a tv show, and they said something about straight people similar to this they would NOT be banned off the show. their OWN show. What happened to freedom of speech?

its so funny to watch all of America get so worked up over this like its the biggest deal ever (i actually don't agree with him being suspended) it shows how vapid and dumb this country is. This is the talk of everyone right now hahhaha I'd love to see what other countries who actually have real stuff going on think about all of the Americans getting upset and up in arms about controversy over a REALITY TV SHOW and we wonder why every other country thinks we are the dumbest people alive.....

Mr. Robertson must have experienced great elation in speaking such truth and piercing the conscience of those bent on evil. It was not without effect though he will feel the sting of the bullies. When asked, keep telling the truth even when those with deviate minds cannot withstand it.

I think the network needs to change their name to "A to Z with no brains in between".  Phil was asked what he thought, not what A & E thought.  I'm very disappointed in A & E!!!!

i thought one of the rights  we had in this great country of ours was freedom of speech. i believe in equal rights for everyone so why does Phil get singled out this week? who will be next week?  let A&E post there their lines about their views not being the same as Phils and let it go. Let people have their god given rights to say what they want. whats the difference in what he said and what Razza on bravos shahs of sunset said about his fellow gay on the show? he was too flamboyant for his taste. let it go. the media will find something else to bitch about next week and this will be forgotten. sounds to me like its just the media jumping on the bandwagon like they did with paula dean. next they will be bitching about the proud redneck having as much money as he does. say what you want Phil. you have a lot of friends and fans behind you whether we believe with your views or not.. thanks for letting me vent........

Does the Bible say God destroyed Sodom & Gomorrah because of homosexuality?  Yes!

We have been identified
(i.e., Christians, fundamentalists, etc.) by society as a problem because we
don’t support unbiblical views such as homosexuality, abortion, and moral
relativism. We have been vilified with accusations of intolerance, committing
hate speech, hatemongering, being against basic civil rights, that we are
bigoted, fanatical, narrow-minded, etc. Christians are made to look like the
unfair aggressors – with the help of the media. This leads to marginalization,
where our rights are effectively ignored and a double standard is introduced so
that socially acceptable groups like homosexuals, pro-abortionists, and the
general non-Christian population are seen as being more worthy of the
protection of the law than Christians. We are being attacked in the media and
the educational system and portrayed as irrational, religious zealots, who want
to oppress people, which conditions society to further marginalize us,
disregard our rights, and ignore our objections. Finally, persecution is
happening where Christians are penalized for not assisting in and supporting
the liberal social agenda. Examples of this are when Christians are fired for
expressing their disapproval of homosexuality (i.e., away from work on Facebook),
or not accepting evolution (losing teaching jobs), their businesses sued for
not providing services to homosexual weddings (i.e., baking a cake), physically
assaulted for preaching the gospel (at pro-homosexual rallies), arrested for
protesting against abortion mills, etc. And, it isn’t stopping there.

Once the persecution has begun it will increase because the
previous steps that support the persecution (labeling, marginalization, and
attacks) have not been neutralized, thereby leaving the momentum of persecution
to increase.

A&E should do the right thing now and cancel Duck Dynasty . . . let the camo clad clan take their 9,000,000+ viewers down the road to ion or TBN or somewhere.  That would show 'em . . . boy.

When you think about it, a joint venture between the Hearst Communications Group (google yellow journalism and two faced news reporting) and Disney (who used to ban same sex couples from the Mouse House) seems a pretty good fit.  Maybe they are both trying to atone for the sins of their forebearers.  Or maybe boost the Duck Dynasty viewership to over 10,000,000 by next Christmas.

Matthew 5:12

New International Version (NIV)

11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

@YeahRightRight Yes because it is easier to claim that a person is bashing them than to believe that the person is concerned with their spirituality.

The only mistake that I noticed about Phil and the words spoken were he might have better stated the Word of God says:  He was not speaking his words but God's and then let the people get made God for a Christian is to follow the Lord's words not mine.

I remember the old preachers use to say during a sermon "Thus says the Lord."  They did this because it is His not their words.

cle
cle

@stevenchaisson What you say is true but a large majority of the people living in the lifestyle of homosexuality claim to be a Christian.  And since I personally believe that homosexuality is a sin I also believe that the Word of God is true.  Hence, God cannot bless a relationship, lifestyle, or any situation that is in sin since God cannot be apart of sin.  He doesn't live in it, can't reside in it, not bless it.  The person has to repent for their sinful acts and turn and walk away leaving it behind them.  This doesn't mean that there will not be temptation to go back, nor does it mean that I am free of sin but as a fellow Christian I am to help any person remove themselves from the sinful act.  This is done with love and concern not by disrespecting them  Which I am not.  These are the directions from the Lord not me.  And yes homosexuality is a sin Romans 2:1-16.

cle
cle

@thatguy21 A Christian is obligated to n judge but hold a person accountable to help them remove the sin from their life.  God is love and if we truly love the Lord then we do our best to refrain from the sin that is controlling our life.  The act of homosexuality is covered in both the Old and New Testament.  For those that just want to read the New Testament then go to Romans Chapter 2:1-16.

@WhatThe??? If you watched GMA the day the news broke you would of heard that they were lumping the comments in with bullying.  Now when someone speaks about their own personal belief and it is against an organization they call it bullying.  And yes free speech is slowly being removed because we might accidently offend someone.  And yes it seems that everyone want to wear their feelings on their shoulders.

@khalfpintgalFreedom of speech only guarantees that he won't go to jail for what he says, which he has not.  A&E does have the right to suspend him if they find said comments offensive.  Personally I think they're (A&E) being over-sensitive, and I'm a supporter of the LGBT community.

@GeeGray @MaureenPlumb You're right. It was talking to everyone. Don't be a hypocrite and say that just because someone has sinned the bible doesn't apply to them.

cle
cle

@Ray_Glover Mr. Ray, you are so correct.  Throughout the whole conversation they point out spelling and that is because they cannot disagree with the Bible.  A person says that homosexuality is not a sin but in Romans 2:1-16 it does say it is a sin.  In  Corinthians 6:18-20 it speaks of fleeing from sexual immorality.  In 1 Corinthians 7: it speaks of a man and woman being married.

I do not hate but as a Christian if I see someone sinning I am to help them remove themselves from the sin and cleanse their body, mind and spirit.  This is not hate but when a person helps another it is out of love and concern for their spiritual life.

Ray_Glover

I didn't catch where dr has an MD, but it is interesting how people who can not conjur a valid and reasonable opposing view will instead try to minimze someone with insignificant attacks on their spelling or wording.
